In-Network Provider
Blue Cross Blue Shield plans frequently include nutrition counseling coverage.

  • Coverage may range from 3–24 visits per year

🩵 Aetna

In-Network Provider
Aetna plans commonly cover nutrition counseling under Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) or preventive services.

  • Most plans include 3–12 visits per year

  • Many clients have little to no out-of-pocket cost

  • Coverage depends on diagnosis and plan details

🟢 TennCare – WellPoint

In-Network beginning February 2026

TennCare (WellPoint) covers nutrition counseling for eligible medical conditions, which may include:

  • Diabetes

  • Malnutrition (children and adults)

  • Obesity and weight-related conditions

  • Other medically necessary nutrition diagnoses (can include picky eaters and low-income shopping)

  • Visit limits vary by diagnosis and plan

TennCare BlueCare covers nutrition counseling for a variety of medical conditions, including:

  • Diabetes

  • Obesity and weight-related conditions

  • Malnutrition (children and adults)

  • Other conditions requiring nutrition support (can include picky eaters)

What to Expect:

  • A referral may be required from your doctor

  • The number of visits depends on your diagnosis and plan

💙 Medicare

In-Network (Eligibility Required) February 2026

Medicare covers Medical Nutrition Therapy only for individuals diagnosed with:

  • Diabetes

  • Kidney disease (non-dialysis)

Important notes:

  • A doctor’s referral is required

  • Visits must relate to the qualifying diagnosis

💳 Self-Pay & Payment Plans

For clients without insurance coverage or who prefer to self-pay:

  • $40 for a 75-minute session

  • Payment plans available

  • Personalized handouts and nutrition education included
